Today is my birthday!
It’s 7.40am and rather than enjoying a lie-in, I’ve got a blog post swimming around my head which needs to come out!
I’d like you to leave me a present today and in doing so give yourself some love.
I’d like you to please have a think about something you like about yourself and/or that you’re proud of, and tell me about it in the comment section below. I’ll be stopping by all day to read your messages and soak up the kindness.
If you’re a regular reader you’ll know that I’ve been having difficulty lately listening to positives about myself. I love the thought that, on my birthday, lots of you will be taking a quick moment to think of something you like about yourselves.
You will be asked for your name, but you don’t need to give a real one. You’ll also need to enter your email address but that won’t be made public. Even if this is the first time you’ve ever left a comment, please share here today!
If, like me, you worry that you’re either tempting fate or showing-off by speaking (or writing) these thoughts out loud, tell that inner-voice to pipe down! My party, my rules!
Right… here’s mine….
I am very proud of my family, by marriage, my blog and my business. I sometimes like my hair. I am a very loving person, a good mummy and a good friend.
There. That wasn’t so bad!
So take a deep breath and please do share yours. Thank you so much!
Rachel
(aged 34 today!)
Huge thanks to Glennon Melton at Momastery for inspiring this post on her birthday last week.
PS… if you’d like to share the kindness further please like my Facebook page here.
Happy Birthday =) Hope you have a wonderful day!!
I’m proud of being able to say that everything i have in my life i’ve got all by myself, no handouts, just hardwork and dedication. I’m also very proud of me and my OH for creating a gorgeous baby girl and hope for another baby in a couple of years =)
Happy birthday! Have a fab day!
I’m so proud of everything myself and hubby have achieved with no support from our families. Also very proud of how we have dealt with all the issues we have been faced with π
Happy Birthday Rach.
I am proud of you for speaking out about this all and am happy to know I have been your friend now for 10 years.
I am proud of myself, for however tough things have been in the last 18 months, getting through each day as best I can. I also like my shoe collection and my cooking skills π x
I am proud of my strength and determination to get through my PND. A one point, I thought that the black hole would forever be following me around, but I pulled myself away from it by thinking about my love for my partner. Now I am happier than I have ever been.
Happy Birthday Rachel
I’m proud of my husband. He’s a darling and I’m thrilled I eventually found him.
I’m also proud of my daughter. She’s growing up quickly and she’s got a wonderful personality.

I am proud of my wonderful husband, my two wonderful beautiful daughters, and my amazing son. My children have given me the precious gift of four incredible grandchildren who give new meaning to words love and cherish. I too have lived with depression throughout most of my adult life, and I am proud that I have always come through the darkness. Happy Birthday to you Rachel, you are an amazing woman and I love you very much xxx
Happy birthday! I am a good mummy and a good friend.xx
Happy Birthday hope you have a wonderful birthday fit for a wonderful birthday!
I’m proud of my 3 beautiful babies, and how well they deal with their differences. I’m also proud that no matter how hard it is to cope with their autism, I manage to get stronger and stronger and no matter how many times I get knocked down I still manage to pick myself up and carry on. xxx
Happy birthday Rachel!! Hope you have a wonderful day!
I am proud of how I am coping with being very heavily pregnant with some complications & extremely uncomfortable & still managing to smile & be a great mum. I am proud of my inner strength & resilience.
Happy Birthday! Lovely to have a lie in very jealous. I’m proud that although my life is incredibly hectic – my husband is in his final year at uni, i work 4 days a week and also run a website AND have a toddler… we’re still all smiling. Not all the time mind you, but most of the time. That in itself is an achievement!
I am a kind, loyal & sensitive person who is a good wife, mother & friend.
Happy Birthday! I hope you are having a wonderful day π
Happy Birthday!!
I like the fact that I love being a mum! It’s one of those things that you can’t prepare for but luckily I love it! X
Happy Birthday!
I’m proud of myself for admitting that sometimes I need a little help. I am a good friend and will always try and help in any way I can.
Many happy returns! What a lovely and generous birthday thought you’ve offered. What I’m most proud of is that I am a fantastic parent. Molding and shaping three absolutely amazing human beings (with the help of their Papa) is the best thing I’ve ever done or can hope to do. π
Happy Birthday dear lady! 34 today? Very nice, I personally didn’t think you were any older than 30 but that’s by the by!
I’m immensely proud of my little boys, my wonderful wife, not often proud of my family, sometimes truly astounded at the closeness and love there is in my wife’s family and like you I think I am a good person, a good dad and a good friend!
Happy birthday Rachel! Hope you’re being spoilt rotten!
I love the sentiment behind your message today, so here goes.
I’m a thoughtful caring and loving person to my family and friends and the patients I treat in the Hospice where I work. These remarkable patients have taught me the meaning of courage and hope and I realise how very lucky I am to be so healthy and loved by my fabulous husband, sons and close family. So many people face dark times alone and I now feel that whatever is thrown at me, I can cope given the devotion and support from my family. My late father’s Motto in life comes to mind ‘always expect the unexpected’. None of us have any idea what is round the corner and marvellous things happen all the time. I feel a stronger person knowing I have survived difficult times and am here to share this with a big smile on my face.
Rachel, I’ve said this before – you are a true inspiration and the support and the platform you have given so many women to voice their fears is quite unique. A sincere thank you to you.
I love your blog and look forward to your next post!
Happy birthday you spring chicken!!
xx
I’m really proud to have a truly remarkable group of friends. I mean real, true friends who have REALLY been there for me through the tough times. Friends who literally drop everything to be giving of their time, energy, skills and love. And I feel I have the right to be proud, because friends like this don’t just appear out of nowhere – I think I must be seen as a good friend for people to then want to reciprocate that friendship.
Happy Birthday Rachel. You always have such lovely blog post ideas – usually that I wish I’d had first! Clever lady! So I like my hair my lips and my tummy, especially now that it bears the stamp of pregnancy. I’m a very caring person – which can leave me open to mean girls but it’s worth it to be genuinely nice. I am proud of my very happy marriage, my beautiful boy and my ‘alternative’ career. Oh and I love that I can bake a great cake!
Happy birthday Rachel!!
I like my teeth but wore braces for 5 years as a teenager! I also love that my body kept my very beautiful children safe when they were growing inside me!
Happy Belated Birthday Rachel! Sorry it took a while to reply.
I am proud of overcoming depression and continuing to do so whenever it pops up again. I am proud of how far I’ve come in life. I am proud of becoming a mummy to a beautiful boy and having the guts to start up my own business doing something I love even when there are people out there who would quite like to see it fail!
That’s it for now x
This is a lovely idea. Firstly i hope you had a lovely birthday.
I am proud of my gorgeous sons who make me smile every single day.
xx
Sorry I missed your birthday! I’ve been at bit rubbish at reading lately but just catching up on your posts now. I am proud of myself for managing to hold down a job, write two blogs, parent my son, be a good sister, wife and friend, and find the time to coach others, and (just about, some weeks!) hold it all together. We are all ‘good enough’ Mothers and for that I think we should all be proud!
